Publications ethics.
As a member of COPE (Committee of Publication Ethics), we work to ensure that your accepted articles contain a full and transparent ethics statement for research involving humans or vertebrates. We can also offer support to your authors through EthicsGen.
Data availability.
We know the importance of understanding your data sharing policy and the current need for reproducibility. We work with you, and can work with your authors also, to ensure that data is deposited in a suitably accessible database, as well as checking data availability statements.
Copyright.
Reusing figures, illustration or diagrams from a third party can become a maze of permission requests – especially for fully open access journals. We can navigate the copyright requirements and ensure that figures are fully copyright compliant.
Financial disclosure and competing interests.
Best practice recommends that authors disclose all financial relationships, whether this be funding, employment, or consultancy fees. We work according to the GPP2 Good Publication Practice for Communicating Company Sponsored Medical Research and understand the role of greater transparency in the research process.
Whilst there is no universal standard for disclosing potential conflicts of interest, we also understand that best practice recommends that a greater, rather than lesser, disclosure is made.
Image screening.
An eye for detail means not only focussing on the text but the imagery as well. To ensure print-ready papers, we screen any images included in a paper checking for:
- Low resolution
- Compression artifacts
- Over-contrasting
- Splicing
- Areas erased
- Duplication
- Overlayering
Pre-production formatting.
Saving you time and ensuring the peer review process is as smooth as possible stretches to every element of our support. This includes the minutiae, including pre-production formatting details, such as checking:
- File types and following consistent naming convention
- Figures and legends
- Tables and captions
- References and reference lists
- Supporting information and its relevant inclusion
Plagiarism (iThenticate/CrossRef).
Whilst checking for plagiarism is vital, we don’t want it to hold up a submission. We can quickly and expertly read plagiarism reports, ensuring that duplicate submissions and overlap issues are highlighted and dealt with quickly and professionally.
Appeals process.
Appeals can be time consuming. We can manage the process on your behalf and are experienced at managing authors’ expectations following a rejection. We are highly experienced in the expert communication and understanding needed to handle an appeal.
Why choose Editorial Office?
We are passionate about peer review. We really understand all of the important elements of the publishing process and the detail involved.
Feel assured that anything you outsource is in safe hands.
