"Making environmentally conscious decisions about how we work and what we purchase, across all areas of the business."

- EOL sustainability working group

Editorial Office is committed to continually revising our sustainability practices and thinking of ways to make a positive environmental impact.

Continuing progress

In our first post, we outlined our sustainability commitments and some of the practices we have already put in place.

Take a read of Our Sustainability Commitments post here.

New sustainability efforts

We are proud to be back with an update, having implemented a range of new elements to support our efforts to be more sustainable and to reduce our carbon use.

The EOL sustainability working group looked at a variety of ways we could do this, across the business, and within our local environment.

Digital carbon footprint reductions

We have now introduced shared inboxes for client accounts. This means allowing multi-user access and, in return, reducing server space requirements.

Environmentally conscious furniture purchases

At our office space, our outdoor furniture needed replacing. Instead of just focussing on quality and value, we consciously investigated environmentally friendly options available for our new furniture.

We chose a new set which is made from 70-100% recycled material, including the use of recycled plastic bottles. Plus, the cushions have Ecocore fillings.

New waste separation practices

Whilst we continue to use paper towels for hygiene purposes, we considered how we could reduce their impact.

We have now implemented further dedicated separation of waste, which means more paper towels are being recycled.

Public transport commitment

Throughout 2024, we have been trialling the use of public transport options, over individual car travel, to client meetings.

We are pleased to say that since May, we have attended all UK client meetings, via public transport.

Bulk buying and refill options

Finally, for our soap and cleaning products, we now bulk buy the products.

Then, using reusable dispensers, we fill and refill as necessary. This has reduced the need to buy multiple plastic bottles, which are subsequently thrown away.

Small changes to continue our sustainability efforts.

It is not always easy to continue to find ways to act more sustainably or to reduce carbon use. However, it is amazing how by analysing everything we do, small changes can start to add up.

At Editorial Office, we believe that we can all play a part in taking environmental positive actions. And, having made our sustainability commitments, we have every intention of sticking to them and doing whatever we can to continually improve.
