Human Relations (HR) is an international peer reviewed journal publishing the highest quality original research to advance our understanding of social relationships at and around work. They receive over 1000 new submissions per year and the team at Editorial Office help to ensure the submission process is streamlined and effective.
Working together to increase impact
The Tavistock Institute of Human Relations (TIHR) have been a permanent partner since April 2013, having initially worked with them back in October 2008.
The journal encourages strong empirical contributions that develop and extend theory as well as more conceptual papers that integrate, critique, and expand existing theory. In 2020, the 2 year Impact Factor saw a 7% increase to 3.632 (2018 2 year IF = 3.367) and the 5 Year Impact Factor has also increased to 4.659 (2018 5 year IF = 4.360).

In 2019, HR, received 1056 new submissions, triaging and desk rejecting over 52% prior to peer review.We have a long-standing team who ensure that our partnership with TIHR continues to thrive.
We are involved in strategy meetings and board meetings.Our relationships with Editors and Board Members enables us to quickly step in and help with any delays from other stakeholders.
Nicky Cotterill, Editorial Assistant, manages our partnership, providing the experience and oversight to ensure that we are always working to improve the efficiency of our service. Hannah Steer and Jess Harris from our freelancer team, also offer specific support – with Hannah taking the lead with the Editor relationship and Jess working in a backup role, providing submission checklist work, but also having a knowledge of the entire journal to provide backup for holidays and sickness cover for other freelancers. Together, this ensures a streamlined, consistent and smooth service.
Our workflow is managed to ensure that all submissions, emails, and queries are responded to in under one working day. Reports are regularly sent to Editors to ensure submissions continue to move quickly through the peer review process.
